If you're a home user looking for an easy to use and effective VPN router, you will like Linksys' E4200. For those who are not technically inclined, the E4200 comes bundled with Cisco Connect, a program that gives the average homeowners an easy way to set up and manage their own system. Another bonus to the user-friendly side of this router is the ability to connect both locally and to a VPN from one SSID (Service Set Identifier). That probably went over a lot of people's heads but what it boils down to is that you don’t need to purchase a second router to create a VPN.
In addition to those features, there is also a built in USB port on the E4200 so that you can have files on a flash drive or USB connectible hard drive available to all members on your home network.
Here are a couple more juicy pieces of information on the E4200 for those of you who are more technologically minded. It comes with advanced firmware that will support PPTP VPN as well as OpenVPN and even has an iPhone, iPad and Android application that lets you manage your system. This router is also a true dual-band router at both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Keep in mind that the 2.4GHz band does not have 450Mbps throughput though.
